Home | Balboa Park Advanced Dance Videos Also see, advanced quickstep lesson video Bolero syllabus, for August 2012: Carrie Pattern 1 - forward check to underarm left turn - QQS (pick up in closed dance position) forward check, outside partner - QQS - woman swivels 180 on 2nd Q and both step forward on S. follower swivels 180, leader holds - QQ leader back - follower forward - S reverse pivots - Q&Q&S Carrie Pattern 2 - basic to open - QQS left side pass with hand change and underarm left turn - QQS QQS crossover break with man's underarm turn (while woman breaks and steps to side on S) - QQS another side pass (still handshake hold) with underarm left turn - QQS QQS crossover brake (New Yorker) - QQS underarm right turn with lunge (opposing/sit breaks) action - QQS pick up in closed dance position (requires a hand change) - QQS basic to open dance position Scott's Pattern 1 - open break to pickup in closed and back spot turn for leader (follower finishes with ronde) - QQS QQS leader releases follower and does syncopated cucaracha while she walks around behind his back - (both finish by stepping across left foot on S, ending with weight on right) leader does another cucaracha; follower swivels twice then steps to leader's left side with left foot and collecting right foot to left - QQSQ back hook for man and shapes to lady; he unwinds (still on hand hold) while she walks across in front of him and spirals to side by side - QS (finish side by side with right hand to right hand pickup) opposing breaks to lady free spin and pickup to closed dance position - QQS Carrie Pattern 3 - basic to opening out - QQS basic to underarm right turn for follower with sit break finish for both man and lady - QQS QQS (change to 2-hand hold - handshake with left over right on last S) forward break with man and lady changing places, both with underarm turns - QQS (man rondes on S) man and lady walk around each other, while maintaining left hand to left hand hold - QQS man does cucaracha while lady swivels then spirals 180 to left (man raises her hand above his head) - QQS opposing steps to pickup in closed dance position and finish with lunging action - QQS sway motion - QQS basic to begin again. |
