Notes on Dr. DJ Jack's |
My annual Mission Bay Sprint Triathlon (MBST), scheduled for Sunday, October 11th (today), was cancelled this year due to covid restrictions. However, in commemoration of the event which I have participated in (and completed) the past 10 years, I took it on my own to Swim, Bike, and Run the usual Triathlon distances today. Admittedly, my pace today was more of a Leisure Triath rather then a Sprint :-) I did not officially measure my event times, except for the Swim, which I conducted at the beautiful, tropical island-like, AquaPlex at San Diego State University. View More Triathlon Info Some Other Observations: 1.) The usual MBST Swim, Bike, and Run distances are 500 meters (0.31 miles), 17 km (~10.6 miles), and 5 km (3.1 miles) respectively. My actual distances today were: Swim = 1000 meters* (0.62 miles); Bike = 39km (~24 miles); Run (Jog) = 5km (~3.1 miles) 2.) The usual order of triathlon events is Swim, Bike, Run. My order today was Run, Bike, Swim 3.) Usual Event Transition Times (the time between the end of one event and the start of the next event) is ~2-5 minutes. Today my Run began at ~8:00am and the Swim ended at 6:00pm; hence a much much more Leisurely Triathlon regarding transition times :-) 4.) Comments on my Event Times: a.)
based on my Mountain Bike trip meter (usually ride my Race Bike in Triathlon), my ride time today for the 24 miles was comparable to my best times for practice rides throughout the year. * Only recorded the time for 1st 500 meters, although time for 2nd 500 was comparable.
